* released on Boxmusik Tapes #1, "Aural Arkives", 1982 - recorded 1981-82.
# released on Boxmusik Tapes #0, "Aural Appetisers", 1981; & also #1, 1982 - recorded 1981.
@ previously unreleased, recorded 1981-83.

Some previously released tracks appear in new edits (mostly extended versions). One or two original cassette tracks, & several early sessions, were not able to be transferred. Most songs appear here in digital format for the first time. Recorded in various inner-Sydney households; except "Barbarism" & parts of "123 Wiretap" and "Knives and Forks at Four" in Rockhampton (1981)

ismISM improvised almost everything, & with the exception of "Y Die In Sinai?" never repeated a piece. ismISM played, composed, & recorded as a collective of people oriented to complete experimentation in "anti-pop" music. Andy edited, montaged, engineered, & persuaded the tracks into existence as tape / digital releases. Tracks are compiled from original session recordings that survive, & remastered into 24-bit digital audio in 2009. Everything was recorded & released on cassette. Some tracks were created by tape montage incorporating performance.

ismISM on these recordings were: Rob Cumings (keyboards, wind instruments, percussion, voice), Andy Lonsdale (tapes, edits, radio, voice, keyboards, guitar, drum machine, percussion, synth, processing), Jeremy Vermeesch [1962-2010] (guitar, keyboards, percussion, drum machine, bass), Yvonne Gruszin [1958-1983] (clarinet, wind instruments), and Jean Declerc (clarinet, voice, saw, jaw harp, percussion).
